Meet Audrey

Conundrums: As a group, we don’t have a favourite public place to gather for drinks and given the travel, vacation and harvest season, we found it difficult to setup a common time and place to meet with the whole team. So, we took Clue #4 on a NSWI Road Trip to the International Plowing Match 2022, in Kempville Ontario, on September 20th, with the intention of finding and meeting someone to whom we could tell our story and pass the bookmark to.

This is where we met Audrey, a lovely lady.

The inspiration to go to the 2022 IPM came from an invitation, in June, to all provincial Women’s Institute chapters/groups, to volunteer at the Events’ Women’s Institute Booth for one of the afternoons at the Match. Seven Women’s Institute Members, including three of our scavenger hunt team, travelled (3hrs) to the event.

We met Audrey, in costume, at the Kempville College display, of which she is an Alumni, and invited her to the Institute Booth for a cup of tea, a tour of the WI display and a chat. A lively conversation ensued with topics ranging through our present projects, WI history, as well as, past and ongoing work by the Institutes’ women. Audrey was quite surprised and impressed by the list of resolutions successfully put forward by the Institute over the years. With a cup of tea, a bookmark in hand, a pamphlet for the nearest Women’s Institute group, Audrey left with a smile and an intent to look into the Women’s Institute in her area.

We enjoyed our visit and thank Audrey for her time and interest and we look forward to meeting her again.
