Attention was a pitcher from Jerusalem made from clay taken from the site of Pilate’s Castle. The Institute assisted with the Coronation program at the Public School. Mrs. Futher who was President at he time officiated at the planting of the “Coronation Oak Tree.” The members served sandwiches and cookies at this program and presented all the school children with flags. On July 7, 1939, Mrs. Hipel, wife of the Hon. N. O. Hipel gave an interesting talk on her trip to England and Europe, and described her presentation to Their Royal Highnesses. Mrs. Hipel looked very lovely in her presentation gown. At the close of the meeting Mrs. Hipel was presented with a bouquet of flowers. During the years of the Second World War the Institute did splendid service in Red Cross work. Money was sent for blankets, honey and ham was also sent. Boxes were sent to all the soldiers from the New Dundee district. Money for this work was derived by making quilts, penny sales and catering for the plowing match etc. During the year we held tag day for the blind, sold seals for the Sanethium and a Christmas shower for the orphanage. In November 1946 we colored for a banquet given in honor of our soldiers, following which a concert was held in Kavelmans Hall and watches given to the returned men and a presentation Bible, beautifully inscribed was given along with a bouquet of roses to the 3 mothers, of the boys who gave their lives on the field of battle.
