The New Dundee Junior Women’s Institute Following the short course which was held during the winter months, the members of The Households Science Class, on the evening of March 6, 1933, decided to form a junior Women’s Institute. The officers elected were as follows: President – Miss Cora Stager, 1st Vice President – Miss Selina Spaetzel, Secretary Treasurer – Miss Ida Hallman. The first meeting of the New Dundee Junior Women’s Institute was held at the home of Miss Selina Spaetzel, May 3rd, 1933 with the District President – Mrs. Robertson and the District Secretary – Mrs. Patterson being present. Mrs. Robertson had charge of the election of officers. A program was planned for each meeting under one of the following topics: Education, Literature, Historical Research, Legislation, Home Economics or Agriculture with a social hour following. During the winter months, the meetings were held pointly with the Junior Farmers of the community, usually in the New Dundee or Williamsburg school. Each year the Institute sent delegates to the Girls Conferenceat Guelph, where different members had the privilege of spending several days at the Ontario Agriculture College. The Junior Women’s Institute carried on until May, 1940, when, due to so many of the girls being marries and moving to other districts, it was deemed advisable to disland. Several of the girls of the district joined the Senior Branch of the New Dundee Women’s Institute. The Presidents from 1933 – 1940 were: Miss CoraStager, 1933 – 34, Miss Elizabeth Rast 1934 – 35, Miss Jean Toman, 1935 – 36, Miss Dorothy Newberry 1936 – 37, Miss Elizabeth Rast 1937 – 38, Miss Iva Zinn 1938 – 39, Miss Stella Shantz 1939 – 1940.
