Golden Centennial Sararas idea by Myron Gascho One of the chief factors in the successful planning of New Dundee's Golden Centennial is the head of the planning committee, Alvin Sararas. It was Sararas who more than a year ago initiated the idea of celebration to mark a great milestone in the history of New Dundee. -It was he who picked the original four committee members and it was he who was present at every meeting held over a one year span. He also accepts the blame should the weekend's fes- tivities be interrupted by unfavourable weather Sararas has been a New Dundee resident for 35 years and although he does not remember what the town looked like 35 years ago he believes that its size has doubled since then. New Dundee now has a population of approximately 1,000 people. Sararas and wife Audrey. believe that the small ton atmosphere is New Dundee's most outstanding feature. "The friendliness that comes from a small town makes it the greatest." J As postmaster and presi-dent of the Board of Trade Sararas finds spare time to be a luxury. What are his plans after the Centennial? He has none, and he's going to enjoy it. In 1980 Victoria Day Celebrations will be CANCELLED in lieu of New Dundee's Golden Centennial Celebration on August 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 1980 Plan now to enjoy these days of celebrations. Please come back again for Victoria Day Celebrations in 1981.
