THE NEW DUNDEE COMMUNITY CENTRE In February 1986, The Optimist Club of New Dundee was looking for a Community project to become involved in, and at a brainstorming session, a new Community Centre was suggested. The existing Centre (the former Missionary Church) was being used almost nightly for community groups but inadequate washrooms, inaccess-ability and size made it unsatisfactory for many functions. The Optimists formed a committee to investigate the feasability of spearheading this project, and determining the public's feelings and needs for a Community Centre. Committee members were Ken Becker, Dr. G. Hess, Dennis Mighton, Tom Muskiluke and John Scott. The results of a survey by the committee showed that 77 percent of respondents were in favour of a new building.
