Two anniversaries on the same day Bergs celebrate 60th anniversary ST. PAULS — Mr. and Mrs. Willis Weicker, 56 Seyler St., New Hamburg, were married 60 years ago, June 28. It is an important date in the Weicker family as it is also the 30th wedding anniversary of their daughter, Marie, now Mrs. Earl Strahm of Poole. Both anniversaries were celebrated by the family on Sunday, with a dinner at the Dow-nie Township hall, St. Pauls. The members of the St. Pauls Women's Institute catered. During the day family pictures were taken and a diamond wedding anniversary cake, made and decorated by Mrs. Strahm was the highlight of the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Weicker were married at the Philipsburg Lutheran Church, with the bride's sister, now Mrs. Jacob Kuntzi, RR 1 Milverton, as bridesmaid, and Percy Weicker, New Hamburg, the groom's brother, as best man. Mrs. Weicker is the former Edith Roth, daughter of the late Mr. and" Mrs. John Roth, Hampstead. Mr. Weicker was one of five boys of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weicker of Preston. Mr. and Mrs. Weicker have a family of four daughters: Mrs. Wilfred (Irene) Keutsch, St. Pauls; Mrs. Strahm.; Mrs. Earl (Violet) Cook, Kitchener; Mrs. Y. Slex (Olive) Fair, Bright. They have 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Until recently, Mrs. Weicker, who is 85, did a considerable amount of needlework and quilting. Another of her hobbies was gardening and the care of house plants; Mr. Weicker is 84 years of age. He is a lover of horses, and still likes to read and do crossword puzzles. He was a farmer, until mov. ing to New Hamburg, when he trucked milk to the New Dundee creamery for some time. Mr. Weicker still drives the car. Anniversary 60th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY MYERS Best wishes are extended to Clarence and Verda Myers of 16 Harlew Cres, New Hamburg on Mr. and Mrs. Albert Berg of 306 Wilmot St. celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Monday evening with a dinner at home. Attending the dinner were their bridesmaid, Mrs. Nettie Lips, sister-in-law of the bride and her son, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Lips all of Heidelberg, their two sons and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Gord-on Berg and daughter Marjorie of RR 2, Wellesley and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur_Berg, Pat, Jamie and Barbara, New Hamburg. Rev. and Mrs. Keffer also attended the celebration. Wed at the home of the bride's parents the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lips on Hesson Road, by Rev. E. Schuelke, Mr. and Mrs. Berg farmed one mile south of Cross-hill for 34 years at which time they moved to New Hamburg. The groom's parents were Mr. and Mrs. Christian Berg, RR 1, Bamberg. and lived at their 60th wedding anniversary April 30. The family will honor their parents with a dinner at the Conestoga Restaurant, Kitchener on Sunday, April 26. Mrs. Myers has been confined to St. Mary's Hospital for the past few months. Their children are Donald and Margaret Myers, RR 1 New Hamburg, Ruby Myers and Audrey Janda, Kitchener, Alice and Glen Schott, Waterloo, Doris and Wilson Koch, St. Agatha, Muriel and Donald Mohr, RR 2 Baden. They have twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. MR. and MRS. EDWIN F. SCHERER On December 26th 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Scherer marked their Diamond Jubilee. They had a family of four sons and one daughter, Mr. Scherer was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scherer of Baden, Ontario. Mrs. Scherer was the former Clara Wamklin of New Hamburg. MR. and MRS. ARCHIE F. D0RSCH Mr. and Mrs. Dorsch reside at the southern edge of New Hamburg. Following their marraige they farmed in North Easthope Township. They retieed to New Hamburg in 1948. They have seven sons, three of them are in the service of the Church, and four duaghters.
