Burnstown is a hamlet situated in McNab Township, near the border of Bagot Township in Renfrew County. Settled primarily by Scots, it is on the shore of the Madawaska River and was part of the timber era. Some families mentioned are Anderson, Brydges, Campbell, Crane, Duff, Fisher, Forrest, Fraser, Halliday, Hamilton, Kippen, Leckie, McAdam, McCallum, McDermid, McFayden, McGregor, McIntyre, McLachlan, McLellan, McLeod, McNee, Moore, O’Connor, Richardson, Roberston, Rochester, Stewart, Stringer, and Wallace.
Volumes 1 and 2 have a Table of Contents or an Index. Volumes 1-4 contain information concerning the branch, its members, and its events, as well as the following:
Volume 1:
- Photographs of early Burnstown streetview and bridges
- History of early settlement in the area, including Bagot Township to Springtown
- Information on local churches, including the original Presbyterian church at Canaan, and accomplished local citizens
- Newspaper clippings about early settlement and industry, museum openings, etc.
